DC-to-DC switching converters are widely used in automotive applications. They are necessary because they efficiently generate different regulated supply voltages for different sub-circuits within the same board. Automotive circuits rely on a conventional battery for power; however, the battery cannot guarantee a regulated or stable voltage supply. A DC/DC converter is required for generating a stable voltage supply from the car battery. This article introduces the IS32PM3510, Lumissil’s latest DC-DC switching IC converter. It discusses the basics of a DC/DC converter, why it is necessary, and a typical application example.
